Wild Horizons was created with a vision to develop relationships, networks and solutions to help tackle the decline of nature in our gardens, neighbourhoods and wider countryside, and associated lack of access to quality green space in local communities.
We strive to improve the state of nature for the benefit of both people and wildlife by working across the UK redesigning green spaces, physically creating new habitats, restoring and enhancing existing ones, as well as educating individuals and organisations through inspiring talks, workshops and other community engagement initiatives.
We both care deeply about the human, plant, fungi and animal communities, and coming from two different walks of life, we bring together separate sets of skills and experience to achieve measurable results in our joint efforts to serve their wellbeing.
Agnieszka studied biodiversity protection and environmental management at the Poznan University of Life Sciences, Poland. Beyond her passion and work for wildlife, her interests and background are in mental health and education, coming together in equine assisted learning and therapy. At Wild Horizons, she is responsible for educational content and strategies, ecological design development and project management.
Jim is a great all round naturalist, with a broad knowledge of the ecology of European plant and animal species. He has spent his entire professional career creating sanctuaries for wildlife in the UK and abroad - designing, building and managing spaces for nature, from small gardens to large nature reserves. His role at Wild Horizons is ecological assessment and practical project implementation.
Over the years, Jim has worked for or alongside many organisations including the Wildlife Trusts, the National Trust and the RSPB. He has been an ambassador for Butterfly Conservation, Bat Conservation Trust and British Dragonfly Society. He has been in conversation with David Attenborough, Chris Packham and Alan Titchmarsh, and also appeared on television with BBC Gardeners World and Channel 5, in the wildlife gardens he has been involved with.
Jim has given many lectures and talks to large organisations and nature groups and has run practical workshops for the Wildlife Trusts, alongside personally undertaking management works on some of their nature reserves. He has written extensively on wildlife habitat creation in gardens, on nature reserves and on the topic of rewilding.
Having recently moved to Wales, we are looking forward to forging further connections and partnerships, in our work towards a more biodiverse and sustainable future.
